While dedicating their lives
for the cause of Khadi and Village Industries, some leading
Gandhians like late Sri H.A. Pai of Ankola, late Sri Anant Bhat
of Bijapur, late Sri Jayadev Rao Kulkarni of Belgaum, late Sri
B.J. Gokhale of Dharwar, late Sri Vasudeva Rao of Chitradurga
and late Sri. B.H. Ianamdar of Raichur felt the need for guiding
the Khadi institutions and founded the Federation on Nov 1,
1957. It was named the ‘Karnataka Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta
Sangh (Federation), Bengeri, Hubli’, with late Sri Venkatesh
T. Magadi being made its first Chairman and late Sri Sriranga
Kamat its Vice-Chairman. |
HEAD OFFICE
The head office is spread over an area of 17 acres of land. It
is the heart of the entire member Institutions discharging all
its duties and commitments towards member Institutions. The following
units are functioning within the campus of the head office. |

FACILITIES
CENTRAL VASTRAGARA
The Central Vastragar is the main distribution center Cotton Khadi,,
Polyvastra, Woollen and Silk from different institutions are procured
and sold to other institutions of the State as well as to institutions
from out of State.

MADE GARMENT UNIT
The inclination of the public
interest towards Khadi has certainly been shouldered by Khadi
ready made unit. The federation has started its own ready made
garments unit in order to fulfill the passion for Khadi.

ALUMINIUM
UTENSILS UNIT
Best quality aluminum utensils which are attractive and durable
are manufactured in this unit. Also the federation has its own
Aluminum retail sales outlet at the premises.

BED
UNIT
There is a bed making unit in the premises. Comfortable bed
(ordinary and box type) are manufactured from best quality cotton
using beautiful Khadi coverings.

CARPENTRY
AND BLACK SMITHY UNIT
This unit is engaged in the manufacture of New Model Charkas
and Looms to supply to various Khadi Institutions. It also manufactures
steel furniture and other articles.

REGIONAL
DYE HOUSE UNIT
A full fledged dye house with required machineries for bleaching,
dyeing and finishing is made available in this unit. Khadi cloth
is procured from different institutions and subjected to bleaching,
dyeing and printing. The bunting cloth required for making National
Flags will also be dyed here. |
PRAKRUTIKA
SADHANALAYA & YOGA CENTRE
The federation has a naturopathy hospital at its premises. This
has proved effective in treatment of chronic diseases under
able guidance of Doctors. Well known personalities and dignitaries
have availed this facility besides the common man. |

INDIA KHADI GRAMODYOG VIDYALAYA (TEXTILE CHEMISTRY)
The Textile Chemistry Vidyalaya is a unique training institution
in the country, which was established in the year 1960 by a
dynamic, dedicated and eminent freedom fighter late Sri.V.T.Magadi.
Eminent Textile Chemist late Prof. D.G.Kaleji was the founder
Principal of this institution. The main purpose of the institution
is to meet the demand and requirement of technically qualified
and skilled technicians for wet processing of textile fabrics
to improve the quality of fabrics. |
